I'm Back

After a two-month absence, I think I'm ready to re-enter the world of blogging. I'm using the fact that I now have two kids under the age of three as my excuse. I suppose I can't use that one forever, so here I am.

Things have been going great around our house, with the exception of Gehrig's "terrible two" behavior, which I've been assured over and over that it's completely normal. Even though I could pinch his little head off sometimes, he just amazes me day after day. His vocabulary is huge! And he's such the little copy cat. Here lately, whenever he gets in trouble, we make him tell us why he's in trouble just so we know he understands (which he does). After he tells us the reason, we have a talk about why whatever he did or didn't do is wrong. His reponse is always the same: "Okay" with a loud emphasis on the "kay" part. Brian took it as being disrespectful, but it sure was hard for us not to laugh. He corrected him and said that wasn't nice. Now, after he says "Okay", he immediately says "what daddy say about that?" Pretty funny stuff. He's also just learned all 26 letters of the alphabet, thanks to the puzzle my cousin handed down to him.

Gehrig has been doing great with his little brother, too. He always asks where "baby brother" is. He's constantly rubbing and kissing Gibby's head. Very sweet. He also loves to take Gibson's bottle out of his mouth when he's eating. He says "Look Mama. His mouth is moving." Silly boy! I honestly think I've heard "Mama" more times in these past 6 weeks that Gibson has been here than I've heard in the two and a half years of Gehrig's life. It seems to increase whenever I'm holding Gibson. For example:

"Mama, come to my room to play."
"Mama, look..."
"Mama, come here."
"Mama, what you doin'?"
"Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama"

And even though it drives me nuts sometimes to have ZERO silence in the house, I wouldn't trade a minute of it.

Gibson is growing like a weed. He'll be six weeks on Tuesday, Feb 24. Hard to believe! He's already in 3 month clothes, mostly to accommodate his length. He weighed in at 10.5 lbs about a week ago. I believe it! He's eating 5.5 oz every 4 hours during the day. He goes down for the night around 8:30 p.m. He usually wakes up around 2 a.m. to eat, and again at 6:30 or 7 a.m. Not too bad in my opinion. After having Gehrig, who was really a perfect baby as far as sleeping and just overall behavior goes, I just knew that Gibson would be the complete opposite - never sleeping and screaming all the time. Thankfully (at least, so far) they've been almost identical. Gibson is so laid back. He never really cries unless he's hungry or has a poopy diaper.

We're spending the weekend in TN with our good friends Ivan & Cathy. We're having a lot of fun catching up and just hanging out. The weather channel is calling for snow tonight, so of course I'm my normal worrisome self. I'm worried about driving home tomorrow, with the roads possibly being slick. I'm worried that we'll have to go home a different way than the way we came. I'm worried that we won't be able to go home until Monday, and I already miss Gehrig something fierce. We left him at home this time. It was a hard decision, but we both thought it would be best this time. We weren't sure we could make a 5-hour trip with a 2-year-old in tow. We were up here in September, and he screamed, and I mean SCREAMED, for at least half the drive up here. Also, they live in a 2-bedroom apartment, so sleeping arrangements would have been difficult. I refuse to let either one of my boys sleep in the bed with us. I'm second-guessing our decision to leave him at home, even though I think it was the right one. I know that Gehrig is having a ball at my parents' house, playing with Uncle Matt-Matt.

I'm just so thankful for all that God has blessed me with. I really have nothing at all to complain or worry about, even though you couldn't tell it by reading this post :) It's something that I'm working on though.
